Day 3 of Dell Technologies World. It might have been my last day, but that didn’t make it any less awesome!
Learning from Mistakes
So, the good news, is that I did learn from my mistake yesterday – knowing that I was meeting for another 7am breakfast meeting, I (a) left early, and (b) prepared myself in advance on how to get to the restaurant.
Do you think it helps … marginally – my failings in #b were saved by #a. I was dropped off at a different entrance, which meant I had to fast-track myself between The Venetian and the Palazzo … So getting there early, and knowing (roughly) where I had to get to, helped me get to the meeting on time.
Morning Meetings
This early-morning meeting was with Dell’s SVP for OEM, which was fascinating – to learn how Dell provides customised (dare I say near bespoke) solutions to meet complex client requirements. And it’s not just about rebranding of things like boot logos, it’s modifying components and layouts within chassis to support a myriad of different combinations.
Beyond learning about this team’s capability, we had the chance to talk through a few different, real-world, client use-cases, which could benefit from this capability
A chance to join some sessions
Day 3 afforded me the chance to make a few of the many breakout sessions, walk through the Solutions Center, and pick up a little swag along the way.
I was awfully excited to meet the Storm Troopers, complete with Grogu – my attempts to rescue one were met with … resistance ? It was worth a try though (Photo up top). I do regret that I missed a photo opportunity with Chewbacca and Darth Vader!
As for swag, I was awfully good this year, only picking up one shirt … An Intel-sponsored “May the 4th” t-shirt … I’m most excited !!!
Final Meetings
My last meetings of the day were a series of really interesting meetings.
First was a meeting on how to change the narrative of Multi-Cloud – from Cloud First to Cloud Smart. Some really simple content which drove a significant conversation on how to approach, sell, and deliver on cloud solutions
We were then extremely fortunate to meet with Howard Elias, Dell Technologies’ Chief Customer Officer and President of Services and Digital. It was an opportunity for us to talk through the top 3 Focus areas for Kyndryl, which led to further discussion about synergies and partnership opportunities.
My last meeting of the day was a CTO Round Table. An open, transparent, and fascinating opportunity to hear from Dell Technologies’ CTO and other senior leaders.A
s well as the facilitated round-table conversation, there was an opportunity to ask questions. Jumping in first I had a chance to ask a question around data sovereignty, data residency, and data privacy. The panel did a fantastic job in replying, which in turn led to a chance to talk in more detail wit some of the panel once the round table had finished!
Awarded
I had the honour of joining Debbie Nevin at the Dell Technologies Global Alliances Partner of the Year Awards!
At the ceremony, Kyndryl was recognised with Dell Technologies Global Alliances – Excellence in New Business Development, Americas Award!
Congratulations to the other winners, and watch out – we’ve our eye on bigger prizes next year!
Last Night In Vegas
My last night in Vegas ended with 2 performances at the Dell Technologies Customer Appreciation event. I didn’t think that anything could beat Flo Rida last night … but you know what, I think that tonight did it … DTW 2022 saved the best for the very end!
First up was Gary Clark Jr. I confess that I hadn’t heard of Gary until I saw him live, but OMG he was just brilliant.
The headline act for the evening was none other than Weezer! As well as their classics, and some new material, they also played Metallica, Toto, and more! Just BRILLIANT!
Until Next Year
And, with that, my Dell Technologies World was over. Such an incredible time. Incredible opportunities to meet new and exciting people, talk directly with Business Owners, Business andTechnical leadership, and so much more.
The night ended with drinks at our favourite watering hole – a chance to say fond farewells to colleagues, partners, and new friends – knowing that we have so much more to do, that we won’t be waiting until next year to meet again!
